Nick Farmer
President

Nick joined the Pedal with Pete team in 2018. “I wanted to get involved with the Pedal with Pete Foundation because of the dedicated volunteers who make the great work of the Foundation possible. I was impressed by the diversity of their backgrounds and the sustained results of their many years of hard work that have contributed so much to cerebral palsy research.”

Nick is a graduate of the University of Maryland, holding Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering. Nick spent most of his working career in the information industry. He worked for Chemical Abstracts Service in Columbus for 24 years, holding a number of different positions from Software Engineer to Chief Information Officer. He also was the Chief Information Officer for Lexis-Nexis in Dayton, OH and for Elsevier Science in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Oxford, England. At the end of his career he was an independent consultant, holding interim positions as Chief Information Officer for several companies, including Harcourt Education in Orlando, FL and Harcourt Assessment in San Antonio, TX. He is now retired.

In addition to serving as the President of the Pedal with Pete Foundation, Nick is a member of the Pastoral Council at Saint Joseph Cathedral, where he provides support for technology related issues, including the parish web site. He is also involved with Linden life Fellowship and Reaching the Nations International, organizations focused on improving life for the residents of the Linden and Milo Grogan communities in Columbus. “I am very fortunate, in many ways. I want to use the technical and management skills I developed over my working career to improve the lives of those who need assistance in realizing their full potential in today’s complex and rapidly changing society.”

Nick and his wife Susan have a daughter who lives in Chicago, IL and a son and four grandchildren who live in San Antonio, TX.

Phil Rosen
Vice President

Phil joined the Pedal with Pete board of directors in 2018. His first experience with Pedal with Pete was as a bicyclist at an event. Pedal with Pete bike rides have been a long-time family tradition and favorite ride for Phil and his family. Phil has always been inspired by the volunteers and the contagious joy and gratitude of the families who are impacted by cerebral palsy, making it an easy event to promote and recommend to cycling friends.

Phil is a Columbus native, and he has lived in Hilliard since 1996.

Phil’s involvement in his community has been a significant part of his life. He served as an Assistant Scout Master and then Committee Chair for The Boy Scouts of America, Troop 814 in Hilliard. Phil was also very active with the Hilliard Davidson High School marching band as a member of the Pit Crew. In 2005 Phil was hired by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training to serve as the head cycling coach. He trained 5 teams from 2005-2008, raising more than $54,000.

Phil has worked in the financial services business since 1996. He works for Haughn & Associates, Inc. in Dublin specializing in individual financial products and longevity planning.

Phil and his wife Martina have two children, Jacob and Molly, and are grandparents to Sophia.

Lauri Kaplan
Secretary

Lauri Kaplan has served on the Pedal with Pete Board of Directors since 2010, and she Lauri Kaplan, Board Secretarybecame the Secretary of the Foundation in 2014. She currently works full-time as a liaison at the Ohio State School for the Blind, serving families of children who are blind or visually impaired and their local school districts across Ohio.

Lauri Kaplan has served on the Pedal with Pete Board of Directors since 2010, and she became the Secretary of the Foundation in 2014. She currently works full-time as a liaison at the Ohio State School for the Blind, serving families of children who are blind or visually impaired and their local school districts across Ohio.

Lauri and her husband are parents of two adult children. Their oldest, Jake, lives with cerebral palsy and enjoys pedaling his adapted bicycle with family around Columbus.

Lauri is an active voice for families dealing with cerebral palsy, providing valuable perspectives to the Board on many different aspects of the cerebral palsy community. Lauri began volunteering at the Columbus event in 2009.

Even with her full schedule, Lauri also serves on Pedal with Pete’s Research and Education committee, and her whole family helps out as needed prior to and during each Columbus event, as the Pedal with Pete Foundation makes a difference to the lives of those they love.

John Manley
Treasurer

John Manley has served on the Pedal with Pete Board of Directors since 2012. He provides financial support for the Pedal with Pete Foundation including day-to-day operations, annual tax returns, sales tax filings, and annual registrations with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and accounting support for the annual events in Columbus, Kent, and Emmetsburg. John is also PwP’s liaison with The Columbus Foundation.

John is a retired Senior Financial Advisor from Chemical Abstracts Service, a division of the American Chemical Society. John has over 40 years of financial operations experience. With his vast experience and knowledge on financial matters, John was asked join the Pedal with Pete Foundation as the treasurer.

When asked why he dedicates his time to PwP, John responded, “I am at a point in my life where giving back has become important to me.  I have been very blessed during my lifetime and feel that volunteering is a way to share my life skills and experience.”  

Like many volunteers, John didn’t originally know much about the condition of cerebral palsy, but through Pedal with Pete, he has had  countless interactions with people in the cerebral palsy community, and John has learned a great deal about this condition and feels that raising funds for research is a very worthwhile use of his time.

Mei Gong
Director

Mei wanted to get involved because she realized the importance of giving back to the community. She joined the Board 2016. “I am fortunate that my mentors showed me how impactful volunteering can be. Being a part of an organization that ultimately helps us all to better understand cerebral palsy is a fulfilling way of utilizing my time.”

Mei started her career at Chemical Abstracts Service while working to receive her Master of Business Administration degree from the Ohio State University Fisher College of Business in Columbus, Ohio.

Mei works at METTLER TOLEDO as a product marketing specialist. After receiving the Posse Foundation Full-Tuition Leadership Scholarship to Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, Mei became involved in fundraising efforts to give back to her alma mater because she received so much kindness and support from others that nurtured her growth and enabled her education.

Mei first learned about the Pedal with Pete Foundation from David Connolly, a colleague at Chemical Abstracts Service and previous Pedal with Pete Foundation Director.

She is dedicated to making a difference through the Pedal with Pete Foundation and enjoys working with others to improve the quality of lives of those with cerebral palsy.

Mei lives in Columbus, Ohio and frequently travels back to New York City to spend time with her parents and younger brother.

Sabine Kuhn
Director

Sabine first learned of Pedal with Pete through a yard sign for the annual bike fundraiser in the front yard of a house on her walking route. She hopes to learn more about cerebral palsy by serving on the Pedal with Pete
Foundation Board of Directors as the leader of the Cerebral Palsy Research Team. She first volunteered in 2019 as part of the cerebral palsy grant review committee overseeing the grant review process and educating the community about cerebral palsy.

She first volunteered in 2019 as part of the cerebral palsy grant review committee overseeing the grant review process and educating the community about cerebral palsy.

Sabine graduated from the Ohio State University with BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Microbiology. Following graduation, Sabine worked at Chemical Abstracts Service in various management and leadership roles before retiring after 31 years.

Sabine keeps busy with volunteering as a mentor to undergraduate and graduate students at Ohio State, as a member of the advisory council for the department of Microbiology at Ohio State, and as a future Franklin County Master Gardener Volunteer. 

Sabine and her husband Dana have a daughter and son who live Columbus. They like to travel and watch their two granddogs PeeDee, a corgi, and Charley, a puggle.

Roger Schenck
Director

Roger brings a strong interest in both cycling and charitable activities to Pedal with Pete. He joined the Board of Directors in 2019, and is the Team Leader for the Columbus Event.

Roger brings a strong interest in both cycling and charitable activities to Pedal with Pete. He joined the Board of Directors in 2019, and is the Team Leader for the Columbus Event.

Roger was born and raised in northeastern Pennsylvania, in a suburb of Wilkes-Barre called Forty Fort. After graduating with a major in chemistry from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster Pennsylvania in 1970, he spent three years in graduate school, eventually making his way to Columbus, Ohio to accept a position at Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) in 1973. After 42 years at CAS, Roger retired and is now living with his wife, Dawn, in Dublin, OH. 

He spends much of his time volunteering with a faith-based organization called “Reaching the Nations International,” helping to revamp a home in the Milo-Grogan area of Columbus. 

Roger enjoys woodworking, reading and bicycling.

Mimi Singh
Director

Mimi has been a Director of the Pedal with Pete Foundation since 2009, and she is a member of the Cerebral Palsy Research Team.  This team reviews and recommends the funding of promising research grants that seek to improve the lives of individuals living with cerebral palsy, including her son, Andy.

Mimi Singh is the practice administrator of a surgical practice at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and a licensed social worker. She received her BA & MS in Social Work at the University of Minnesota.

Mimi previously served as a Board member of the Easter Seals Society of Central Ohio. She believes in “cerebral palsy mom power.”

While Mimi’s son Andy was attending kindergarten at the Nisonger Center on OSU’s main campus, she was asked to help raise funds for an accessible playground which would allow all of Nisonger’s students (particularly those who are disabled) to participate in play.

Mimi contacted Ed Renzi, Ed Renzi, an OSU graduate and the former President of McDonald’s Corporation, who pledged to donate an accessible playground. This playground is enjoyed to this day by Nisonger’s students.

Mimi is married to Errol O. Singh and has a son, Andy, who lives with cerebral palsy.

Paul Stock
Director

Paul Stock has served on the Pedal with Pete Foundation Board of Directors since 2010. Before serving as a board member, Paul was a frequent sponsor of Pedal with Pete’s annual Columbus ride though his computer consulting company, Stock Consulting.

Paul Stock has served on the Pedal with Pete Foundation Board of Directors since 2010. Before serving as a board member, Paul was a frequent sponsor of Pedal with Pete’s annual Columbus ride though his computer consulting company, Stock Consulting.

An avid cyclist, Paul first became acquainted with the Pedal with Pete Foundation through regular participation in the Foundation’s events. 

In addition to being a Director, Paul provides occasional technical support for Pedal with Pete for any computer related issues. 

Paul also previously served on the board of the Purple Door Christian Childcare Center in Grove City, Ohio.

Jim Stroble
Director

Jim was the co-chair of the Pedal with Pete Kent Event from 2015 through 2019.

Jim was the co-chair of the Pedal with Pete Kent Event from 2015 through 2019.

Jim is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point, and he served as a Field Artillery officer in the US Army and has an MBA from the University of Akron.

After leaving the Army, Jim joined the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, where he held a number of technical and management positions until he retired after 37 years of service, including a year and a half in Tokyo, Japan.

Jim holds nine patents and is a past member of the American Society of Testing and Materials, the Society of Automotive Engineers and the Tire Society. 

In addition to his work with Pedal with Pete, Jim has held leadership positions with the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Kent Lions Club, Troup 253 and the Seneca District of the Boy Scouts of America, and the Ronald McDonald House of Akron. 

Jim and Pete Zeidner were friends for many years. Jim and his whole family  are ardent supporters of Pedal with Pete. Jim was the co-chair of the Pedal with Pete Kent Event from 2015 through 2019. Jim and his wife Carol have two sons, Dan (Allison) and Chris (Ali), grandson Ethan and granddaughter Avery.
